Discord Nitro subscribers to receive 'starter edition' of Xbox Game Pass through new partnership. Eligible Game Pass subscribers will also obtain Discord Nitro benefits at a later date.
Xbox and Discord have joined forces to offer a 'starter edition' of Game Pass to Nitro subscribers. This edition grants access to a collection of over 50 PC and console games, such as Stardew Valley, Grounded, Hades, Fallout 4, and Doom Eternal, along with ten hours of cloud gaming. The pricing for Nitro subscriptions will remain the same, with the Game Pass starter edition included.
Additionally, eligible Game Pass subscribers will soon enjoy Discord Nitro perks, including 250 Discord Orbs monthly, 1.2 times more Orbs for completing Quests, and automatic discounts at the Discord Shop. Discord's senior director of product, Lu Zhang, expressed excitement about the Nitro Rewards program, which offers members access to gaming services and gear through partnerships with major gaming companies.
This new iteration of Game Pass follows Xbox CEO Asha Sharma's recent announcement of price reductions for the top tier of its subscription service. Game Pass Ultimate now costs $22.99 per month, down from $29.99, while PC Game Pass is priced at $13.99, reduced from $16.49. Despite these adjustments, it does not fully offset the 50% price hike implemented by Xbox last October. Sharma emphasized Xbox's plans to evolve Game Pass into a more adaptable system, acknowledging the need for testing and learning.
Sharma also revealed the discontinuation of Gaming Copilot development on consoles and mobile devices, part of Xbox's broader rebranding strategy to enhance Game Pass's financial sustainability.
