Newzoo: Global Games Market Exceeds $200 Billion in 2025

Research from data firm Newzoo shows that the global games market generated over $200 billion in revenue during 2025.

For the year, the global games market made $201.6 billion, marking a significant 9.1% increase year-on-year. This milestone represents the first time that video games have surpassed the $200 billion mark in a single year worldwide.

Mobile gaming accounted for 56% of the revenue, amounting to $113.3 billion. Factors contributing to this growth include direct-to-consumer spending, China's mini-game trend, and revenue from Tencent. Despite a decline in the number of downloads, the mobile market exceeded previous estimates due to enhanced monetization efforts rather than an expanding audience.

PC and console gaming each claimed 22% of the revenue share. PC gaming saw $43.6 billion in spending, a 12% increase year-on-year, driven by titles like Battlefield 6 and Monster Hunter Wilds. Console gaming, with $44.7 billion in revenue, experienced a modest 2.8% increase year-on-year, attributed to softer live-service revenue and performance issues within Nintendo's ecosystem.

China emerged as the largest gaming market globally, with $54.6 billion in consumer spending, followed by the United States at $50.8 billion. The Asia Pacific region experienced a 9.9% rise in revenue, Europe saw a 10.7% increase, North America's revenue grew by 5.7%, the Middle East and Africa surged by 15%, and Latin America's market expanded by 9.6%.
