Nexon reported strong first-quarter results, with net income rising 118% year-over-year, supported by a ¥14.5 billion ($91.4 million) foreign exchange gain.
Nexon reported a remarkable 118% increase in net income for the first quarter, driven by the ongoing success of Embark Studios' Arc Raiders and the MapleStory franchise. The company achieved record quarterly results, with Arc Raiders selling an additional 4.6 million units, bringing total sales to 16 million. Moreover, over half of active players spent more than 100 hours in-game, accumulating a total of 1.5 billion hours.
In terms of financials, Nexon's revenue reached ¥152.2 billion ($959.9 million), marking a 34% year-over-year increase. Operating income also saw a significant rise of 40% to ¥58.2 billion ($367 million). The company's three main franchises, namely MapleStory, Dungeon & Fighter, and FC, contributed to stable revenue generation in Q1, amounting to ¥92.9 billion ($586.1 million).
Looking ahead, Nexon anticipates a revenue range of ¥107 billion ($674.9 million) to ¥119.7 billion ($755 million), with an expected decline of 10%. Operating income is forecasted to be between ¥16.1 billion ($101.5 million) and ¥25.3 billion ($159.6 million), reflecting a 57% decrease.
