Sony's latest State of Play showcase revealed a series of new games and release dates, alongside the expected deep-dives on Marvel's Wolverine and God of War Laufey, both from internal Sony studios Insomniac and Sony Santa Monica respectively.
Sony's summer State of Play showcase unveiled exciting new games and release dates. The event featured in-depth looks at Marvel's Wolverine and God of War Laufey, developed by Insomniac and Sony Santa Monica. The lineup included several gore-heavy action games and announced September and October release dates to avoid clashing with GTA 6's launch in November.
The showcase included the reveal of God of War Laufey, centered on Faye in an otherworldly afterlife, and Marvel's Wolverine with new footage and a confirmed September 15 release. Other announcements comprised Until Dawn 2, Stuntman: Hollywood, Kemuri, Rayman Legends Retold, Bancho the Chef, and The Lost Wild. Additionally, delays were announced for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Phantom Blade Zero. New releases like Runescape: Dragonwilds, Silent Hill Townfall, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Control Resonant, Dune Awakening, and Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve were also highlighted.
The State of Play event marked the third showcase of the week, preceding The Mix and Black Voices in Gaming, with more showcases to follow during what used to be E3 week, now headlined by Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest showcase on June 5.
