Sony expected to pay US customers $7.8m in PlayStation Store settlement. Lawsuit claims selling digital titles through game-specific vouchers on the PS store is 'designed to monopolise the PS digital game market'.

Sony Interactive Entertainment is set to refund $7.8 million to US customers following a lawsuit over alleged antitrust practices on the PlayStation Store. The settlement, approved in 2024 after two rejections, will undergo a fairness hearing on October 15, 2026.

The class action, led by Saveri Law Firm, accuses SIE of violating antitrust laws by monopolizing the PlayStation digital game market through anti-competitive practices. The lawsuit alleges that selling digital PlayStation titles via game-specific vouchers restricts customers from buying games from third-party retailers.

Customers who purchased digital games using game-specific vouchers on the PS Store between April 1, 2019, and December 31, 2023, may qualify for compensation in the form of 'cash-value PlayStation Network account credits.' Eligible titles include The Last of Us, Destiny, Resident Evil 4, and more.
