Supercell is set to acquire Metacore, pulling Merge Mansion into its live games portfolio.
Supercell has announced its acquisition of Metacore, a move that will incorporate Merge Mansion into its live games portfolio. Merge Mansion, the debut game from Metacore released in 2020, has amassed over 60 million downloads. Described as a merge 2 mystery puzzle game, it involves renovating a neglected family estate while uncovering hidden secrets.
Metacore reports that the mobile game has generated approximately $700 million in revenue. Supercell sees potential for the game to attract an even larger player base. Ilkka Paananen, Supercell's CEO, praised Merge Mansion's strong foundation and the team's innovation in the merge 2 genre.
Paananen expressed optimism about Merge Mansion's future, citing Supercell's expertise in enhancing and expanding global live games. He believes that with their live operations and user acquisition capabilities, they can elevate the game to the top of its category. Metacore CEO Mika Tammenkoski endorsed the acquisition, stating that Supercell offers the best environment for Merge Mansion's continued success.
Recently, Paananen received a BAFTA Fellowship at the BAFTA Game Awards, further solidifying his industry recognition.
