The Ukrainian government is set to sign off on a proposal to ban soldiers from gambling online, amid claims many armed forces personnel have become addicted to web-based betting.
The proposal, supported by the Cabinet of Ministers, is aimed at addressing concerns raised by Gennady Novikov, head of the Ukrainian gambling regulator PlayCity, who highlighted the issue of gambling addiction among soldiers in a Facebook post.
This move reflects efforts to protect military personnel from the risks associated with online gambling and promote responsible gaming practices within the armed forces.
