Australia’s corporate regulator seeks a A$1.3 million fine and an eight-year directorship ban for former Star Entertainment Group CEO Matt Bekier over misconduct tied to Suncity.
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has urged the Federal Court to impose a A$1.3 million ($935,000) penalty and an eight-year ban on former Star Entertainment Group CEO Matt Bekier. The regulator's move is in connection with misconduct associated with junket operator Suncity. Bekier, who helmed Star from April 2014 to March 2022, is accused of lacking remorse or comprehension of the situation.
